The most common essential oils and what they are used for:
Lavender - used to relieve stress and anxiety. Helps promote sleep. Lavender oil can be applied topically, with a carrier oil or used in a diffuser. Some people add a few drops to bath water, for relaxation.
Chamomile - used for relaxation and to improve mood. Used in oil form and as a tea.
Tea Tree - used to fight infections and strengthen immunity.
Peppermint - aids in digestion, lifts mood, helps with memory retention. Helps to relieve headaches and boost energy. Known to have anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Peppermint tea is used to relieve upset stomachs and other digestive issues.
Eucalyptus - relieves nasal congestion. Helps with pain relief. Be careful if applying topically, it should always be diluted. Can cause skin irritation, in some people.
Rosemary - used for improving memory, reducing pain and stress. Rosemary is used in aromatherapy and also, topically. Can be made into a tea for stress relief and for stomach problems.
Bergamot - used to lift ones spirits, relieve stress and lower blood pressure. Can help with skin conditions, such as eczema.
Sandalwood - used to help with anxiety and aid in concentration.
Lemon - used to help with digestion, elevate mood and relieve headaches. Kills bacteria. Can be used in aromatherapy and be applied topcially, with a carrier oil.
Rose - improves mood, reduces anxiety and increases libido.
